Moothi Estate is a family owned and run vineyard and boutique wine producer in Mudgee, NSW. In 1995 the Moore family began their search for a suitable property to turn into a world-class vineyard. They were lucky enough to discover the perfect parcel of land in the prestigious, premium wine making region of Mudgee. They planted and developed 'CountyView Vineyard' on the north-west facing slopes of Mount Frome, making it one of the highest in the area. The Mudgee region is flanked on three sides by the Great Dividing Range, hence its Koori name, Moothi, meaning 'nest in the hills'. The position allows it excellent drainage and maximum sun exposure promoting strong, healthy vines. The soil is ideal; a reddish brown clay with limestone, quartz, ironstone gibber with a slightly negative pH. A combination perfect for growing Mudgee's standout varieties: Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Semillon. The grapes chosen for Moothi Estate wines are harvested from specially selected rows in the high blocks of the vineyard, individual berries are tested by our winemaker for ripeness, colour, taste and mature tannins to ensure that what goes into the bottle is the finest wine we could possibly produce.
