The wine has a good deep red colour with vibrant ruby hues. Merlot can sometimes be a little shy in expressing distinctive varietal aromas but this wine has proven to be an exception. The aromas are of plums and red berries, as well as a floral violet.
The palate has distinctive flavours of earthy olives and blackcurrants. The new American Oak provides richness with vanilla overtones and has contributed to firm, but not aggressive, tannins.
The wine is medium bodied with good balance and length and will develop well with good cellaring over the next five years.

This wine displays a deep, ruby red colour.
The aroma shows good varietal charactaristics of plum and violets. There is a complex earthiness and regional aniseed spice evident on the nose.
The palate shows sweet fruit and very subtle oak, which is expressed as a vanillin lift. The earthiness and spice come through on the later half of the palate. The oak provides some sweet vanilla and soft, fine tannins which provide structure and length to the palate.
The wine is well balanced and will provide drinking pleasure as a young wine as well as having the ability to develop complexity with age.
