Moothi Mud Shiraz

Vintage - 2002

Winemaker - Drew Tuckwel

Alcohol - 13.1%

Awards/Accolades: Bronze Medal, Great Australian Shiraz Challenge 2005

Stocks: Becoming limited

The wine shows a deep red colour.

The aroma is of forest fruits such as blackberry, boysenberry and wild plum. Fuit complexity is added with the Mudgee regional aniseed spice.

The complex palate shows lovely, tongue-coating berry fruits as well as rich plum flavours, licorice and hints of cracked pepper thanks to the cooler 2002 vintage conditions. The oak component is well integrated showing some sweet vanilla and cashew nut with a touch of toastiness.

The wine is full bodied and will continue to develop well over the next two to three years.

Vintage - 2003

Winemaker - Drew Tuckwell

Alcohol - 13.6%

Stocks: Adequate

This wine displays a lovely deep red colour with rich ruby hues.

The aroma is typical of Mudgee shiraz with forest fruits, aniseed spice, ginger and an underlying earthiness. The new oak supports the fruit adding a vanillan and toast lift.

The palate has great length of primary fruits with the addition of spice and earthiness. The tannins are firm but not aggressive and provide length and persistence to the wines structure.

This wine will develop greater complexities with careful cellaring over the next three to five years.
